To go beyond is as wrong as to fall short.
Friday nights Scotch or two, means Saturday is spent in the studio harbourside playing pieces of the puzzle. It's been two weeks now, and some very late nights but we're almost there.
I snapped this from the balcony, where the mulled wine and cheeses were situated. Unfortunately you'll have to wait to see the entire range, and what's on hand for Summer.

Late Winter, or early Spring drop? Well, considering we're still actually in the first month of 'actual Winter' here in Aus, and the industry likes to drop Spring collections at the time we are all still getting around in our Long Johns, layered in fleece and keeping out of trouble. We'll call this exclusive online delivery, a spring-summery-take-of-winter, just to set up for the months ahead...
These products seen above are transeasonal - consisting of a mixture of semi-lightweight knitted cotton jerseys, fleece, linen/cotton blends, and woven fancy cotton.
All this product is Made locally here in Sydney. Due to the benefits of small scale production lines, we are able to bring you guys fresh new goods on a regular, and flowing basis, held exclusive to our Online Store. These new goods will be spilling out on completion, and directly for the taking. Avoiding the wait between seasonal drops of new product.

I love this place - Gods Country! Manly Food & Wine was on over the weekend and I snapped this on my BB whilst devouring some Indian and Vino on the beach front.
The quality isn't the best (RIM need to up their standards), but if I make it aware, you'll notice that North Head is completely lighten up by the rays despite it being stormy and clouds everywhere... the best bit though, on the same exact day the year before this EXACT same thing happened! If Jonny hadn't slept and was draining red straight from the bottle like '09, it would have been a real life deja vu...

Pre Show & Backstage RAFW
What a great day! It was another early start; there was plenty of mineral water; not much time for eating; the show was late; the after party was massive; it finished similarly to when it began, early the next morning.
Thinking back, I can't really pin point how to describe it (in more detail than the foregoing paragraph); it was such a long day, absorbing day that it is now a bit of a blur and my memory is almost fast-forwarded.
Luckily enough, we have some images to post which we hope will give you better insight into how most part of the day, mainly back stage and prior to the show, panned out:

RAFW show... After RAFW party
Its the morning of our runway show today and, as you can imagine, we are pretty pumped! There has been a lot of hard work and late nights coming into this, so it will be awesome seeing it pay off and to see the results.

As we posted last week, we had our fittings and castings on Saturday. Jonson wasn't able to make it, and consequently missed out - despite the early start [relatively (we got there late)] it was good fun! Really happy with the models too, and it was great seeing the raw model-product image.

These are some shots from our processing - dying, bulk washing, stone washing etc - joint in the city. I like these shots because they definitely shed a bit of light on one of the many behind the scenes aspects of this industry - a large focus of this blog.
These where actually taking last week, when doing some final processing for the show this Friday, but we obviously didn't got around to posting them 'till now. Our excuse? Usually it would be something like this (click here for example), but with fashion week this week, we've actually been pretty busy.

Although we are still doing some adjustments and additions for RAFW (getting late I know, but we are not surprised that it has turned out this way), the base of the range is complete and being sorted for next week. This is some of it from afar:

Back to RAFW buildup, we've got a fitting for the show over the weekend (our samples are real small, and so I'd say there'll be a few sweating models trying to squeeze into them).

We had our first, official pre-production meeting for RAFW 2010 the other day, and I snapped this pic when headed city bound.
I like this image because, to me, it is a mixture of old and new; it mixes a vintage feel with that which is modern.
It is combinations not unlike this that is probably my favourite thing in fashion right now.

This place is great! I don't know if it is the smell of gourmet pizza, or the fact that vino surrounds you from every angle, but every time we head to Beaches we leave overeaten and drunk (this isn't a bad thing).
Beaches Pizza Bar is nested comfortably in Manly's epicenter. We recommend Marinated Lamb (with extra lamb) & Goats Cheese, and as many different bottles of red as you can manage.

These are some backstage images we snapped whilst shooting some new product for our online store recently. It was a long night on top of a long day, and we were off the Red's because of too much Jameson at Shore Sundays - this made it longer. Nonetheless, we had a good time.
The product was a mixture between some long sleeves, denims, shorts and dresses from our Autumn 2010 drop. This will be available online in the next week or two so be sure to check back....

One of the major components of our over all purpose for us at plasidapparel, something that we are continually trying to assist with in between our daily latte' comps in the office, is to "generate a forward thinking attitude towards the planet and the environment, within and beyond related industries".
Not so long ago, a friend of ours showed us a video that largely summed up the above values. The imagery throughout the film, which is shot entirely from the air, was so mind blowing we took a few screen shots to show you all:
The films obvious goal is to create awareness for our planet, and to encapsulate how devastating our past and present industrial movements has been on it, and our environment. But its greater significance, its underlying message - which we particularly liked - is one of hope, that we shouldn't be pessimistic about the future, but rather we should have faith that we CAN correct our path of destruction, and veer away from our current linear methods of industrialisation and consumption, and into more rewarding and holistic movements and means of maintaining existence. It's pretty enlightening stuff.
The film is titled 'HOME', and runs for around 90 minutes. It is free to view and download via YouTube, and we sincerely suggest you take the time to check it out.

What a booming night it was at the White Revolver last week, which saw the celebration of our Summer 2009/ '10 range.
In case you are wondering how it all turned out, we've put together a few images from the event, which can be seen below.
